Most pastors and church leaders confronted with an instance of sexual abuse perpetrated by a staff member or volunteer worker recognize that what works with the usual cases of moral failure simply does not apply. They are face to face with a crisis with which nothing in their educational background or their personal experience has prepared them to deal.
Since each situation is different, the procedures and time frame for this program will vary. However, it will immediately lay out what to expect for:

The church

The person who has been abused and his/her family

The perpetrator and his/her family

Others directly involved or affected
Interaction with law enforcement and the judicial system by Tree of Rest, Inc. personnel who have extensive experience in working with the system in the area of evaluating or, where necessary, locating programs which can be approved by the system offers a good impression of not only the church's willingness, but also its ability, to respond correctly.
The counsel and assistance provided by Tree of Rest, Inc., both during the critical first few hours and days following discovery, through the Sexual Abuse Emergency Checklist and phone consultation, as well as strategic approaches to long term situations and issues can mean the difference in a devastated and split congregation and a healthy and united body.
