    Church Ministry

Only in recent years has the church acknowledged the fact that sexual abuse is prevalent within the Christian community. Statistics indicate that 38% of girls are sexually abused before the age of 18 and 25% of females are raped at some time in their lives and that 16% of boys are sexually abused before the age of 18.  As these numbers Indicate, it is virtually impossible for anyone to grow up without having sexual abuse touch their life in some way….either they will suffer abuse of someone they care about will experience abuse.

Therefore the church, as the body of Christ, has a moral and a legal obligation to:

  • protect infants, children, and young people entrusted to its care from sexual abuse by church staff or volunteers
  • protect leadership and workers from false accusations of sexual misconduct
  • protect the church from both criminal and civil liability
  • facilitate healing to all within the congregation who have been affected by sexual abuse and sexual addictions

Tree of Rest, Inc. addresses all of these obligations through our prayerfully designed, programs.

His Healing Through His Body Recovery & Intervention
A program designed to enable churches and coalitions of churches to free the captives and provide a safe place for the healing of the wounds of all those who have been affected by the sin of sexual abuse.

Nowhere on earth should a child be safer than the place where God's people come together to worship Him and be taught by His shepherd.  No church leadership should shrink from the responsibility of protecting the children God has place in their flock.

A Safe Church
A program created to protect infants, children and teen from sexual abuse; workers from false accusations; and the church from both criminal and civil liability.

Leadership also has a duty to those who work with infants, children, and youth to establish policies and procedures which will help prevent unfounded accusations from being brought against workers.

A Wounded Church
A program that brings healing to the church which has experienced abuse perpetrated by a staff member, volunteer worker or church member.

At the same time church leadership has the responsibility of overseeing church finances; of assuring that the money God's people give to His work is used for that work.  Money spent on fighting or settling an accusation or an actual perpetration of sexual abuse or harassment is money diverted from the work of God.

Caring for Innocence
A presentation devised to teach caregivers and families to understand, prevent, recognize and address sexual abuse in children, adolescents and adults.

If the great love of God and the light of God's truth...who He is, who we are to Him, and what that means for us...aren't brought into the lives of all those who have been affected by sexual abuse, the enemy will most assuredly use the abuse to kill their child-likeness, steal their peace and joy, and destroy their trust and hope of salvation it this life and often in eternity.

Sex: It's a GOD Thing
A presentation for teens, bringing together godly truths about and principals governing sex and sexuality.
